Earlier in the month, we were delighted to welcome Janine Machin, the BBC’s Science and Technology Reporter, to our Luton facility to learn more about the advanced electronics manufacturing taking place at Jaltek.

During her visit, Janine and the BBC team filmed the factory in action and conducted interviews for a feature spanning online, radio and television. The BBC East coverage, which went live on 12th February, explored growth across the Oxford–Cambridge (OxCam) corridor, the momentum building across this high-growth region, and how infrastructure projects such as East West Rail could unlock further opportunity for UK manufacturers.
In the feature, our Managing Director, Steve Pittom, discusses Jaltek’s growth journey and the role that improved connectivity, access to skills and continued investment play in supporting advanced manufacturing and high-reliability electronics businesses.
Michal, who first joined Jaltek during his college holidays assembling products on the factory floor and is now one of our supervisors, also shared his story. His journey is a powerful reminder that growth in the manufacturing sector is not only about infrastructure — it is also about people, opportunity and progression.
If you missed the televised BBC East broadcast, the online article remains live and provides a great insight into both the feature and the wider regional growth story.
