Jaltek recently welcomed Year 9 Design & Technology students from Lealands High School to our Luton facility, giving them the opportunity to step beyond the classroom and experience first-hand how ideas are transformed into real products. The visit provided a practical introduction to the world of electronics design and manufacturing, bringing to life the creativity, technology and problem-solving that drive innovation in a real production environment.
During their time on site, students gained insight into how electronic products move from concept through to manufacture, while learning about the wide range of skills and career opportunities available within the sector.
A highlight of the visit was a hands-on session focused on electrostatic discharge (ESD), where students discovered the importance of protecting sensitive electronic components. They then put their learning into practice by building their own “Steady Hand Terminal Game”, combining technical understanding with a fun and engaging challenge.
Jaltek Claire Mackay's said:
“It was a pleasure to welcome the students to Jaltek and give them a glimpse into the world of electronics design and manufacturing. Experiences like this can help young people understand how the subjects they study connect to real careers, while building confidence and curiosity about the opportunities available to them. We hope the visit inspired some future engineers and designers.”
Supporting and inspiring the next generation of talent is an important part of Jaltek’s commitment to the wider manufacturing and technology community.
The company would like to thank Mr B and his class for visiting and we hope the students enjoyed their time learning more about the industry.
