To mark this year’s International Women’s Day, Jaltek is highlighting its support for Women in TechWorks — a growing network supporting and elevating women across the UK technology sector.

Launched in October 2025, the member-led programme aims to raise awareness, celebrate achievements and accelerate career progression for women working in technology.

Jaltek is proud to support the programme through the involvement of Claire Mackay, who has been appointed to the steering board, helping to guide its work around leadership, mentorship and visibility.

The network brings together leaders and experts from across the technology ecosystem who are committed to advancing gender diversity and supporting women at every stage of their professional journey. It spans a wide range of disciplines, including semiconductors, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, embedded systems and electronic systems applications, reflecting the breadth of the UK’s technology landscape.

Since launching, the programme has already hosted a number of events designed to foster discussion, connection and learning across the community — including tech talks, online town halls and fireside chats. These events provide opportunities for professionals to share experiences, highlight success stories and explore some of the challenges that still exist within the sector.

While more women are entering the technology industry, there is still significant untapped talent. Research suggests that many women leave the sector earlier than their male counterparts, highlighting the importance of initiatives that strengthen networks, support career progression and promote greater visibility. This focus on collaboration, mentorship and shared experience reflects this year’s International Women’s Day theme, Give to Gain, which encourages individuals and organisations to support others in order to help the whole sector grow and succeed.

For companies working across engineering and high-technology industries, building a strong and diverse talent pipeline is essential. Initiatives like Women in TechWorks help encourage more women to pursue and progress in technical careers, ensuring the sector can continue to grow, innovate and develop the skills it needs for the future.

As the network continues to grow, upcoming events — including a fireside chat with Ellie Bramer, Engineering Manager at Arm, exploring the transition from individual contributor to leadership in a male-dominated environment — will continue to build momentum across the community.

At Jaltek, we recognise that building supportive networks across companies and disciplines helps more women thrive and progress. As an electronics manufacturing partner working across multiple high-technology sectors, supporting initiatives like this helps create more opportunities for women to succeed in engineering and technology.

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the achievements of women across the industry and the organisations working to create greater opportunity for the future.
