Jaltek’s Technical Director Appointed Vice-Chair of the SME Committee at UKspace
We are delighted to announce that Chris Day, Jaltek’s Technical Director, has been appointed Vice-Chair of the SME Committee at UKspace (The Space Trade Association) — a four-year commitment during which he will serve two years as Vice-Chair, followed by two years as Chair.
Chris joins the committee at a pivotal time for the UK space sector. UKspace plays a vital role in championing and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises across the UK’s rapidly expanding space industry — providing a platform to influence strategy, foster collaboration, and drive innovation.
Through his new role, Chris will help steer initiatives that strengthen the capabilities, visibility, and growth of SMEs within the UK space supply chain.
UKspace Executive Director, Colin Baldwin, said:
“We are delighted that Chris has been elected to this role on the SME Committee. Of our 200+ members, about half of them are SMEs, so we recognise what a significant contribution they make to the UK space industry through their extensive range of capabilities, services and experience. Chris has a wealth of technical and business knowledge, so will be a great asset to the SME Committee and the wider UKspace community.”
Commenting on his appointment, Chris said:
“I’m honoured to take on this role with UKspace and look forward to working with our SME community to accelerate growth, innovation, and opportunity across the UK space ecosystem.”
Jaltek’s Managing Director, Steve Pittom, added:
“At Jaltek, our involvement in the space sector has grown rapidly in recent years. Chris’s appointment reinforces our commitment to advancing UK-based, high-reliability electronic design and manufacturing capabilities for space, aerospace, and defence applications. We believe his contribution to the SME Committee will bring valuable insights and connections both for Jaltek and for the wider SME community — and we’re thrilled for him.”
This appointment marks an exciting milestone for Jaltek — positioning us at the forefront of UK space design and manufacturing, and linking our technical leadership directly to industry strategy; helping to shape the sector’s future.
We congratulate Chris on this well-deserved achievement and look forward to supporting his work with UKspace over the coming four years.
